Private Tours: Frequently asked questions
I lead public tours twice a month, but perhaps you can’t make that time — or would prefer a smaller-group.
Interested? We can find a time! Up to 20 people can attend; kids must be accompanied by parents. (Discounts available; see below.)
Package A:
Zoo only
The 1-hour tour of the outdoor fossil zoo, and a map to local fossil beds
$8 for each person 7 and up
or $20 for a whole family
Package B:
Trip, too
Package A plus a 2-hour guided trip to a fossil-rich site!
$20 for each person 7 and up
or $50 for a whole family

How do I pay?
Cash, please!
Will we all drive to the site together?
No — that way, you can head back home directly from the site.
Do you have any discounts for guests at Whispering Winds?
If you stay at my Whispering Winds resort, you’ll get Package A (the tour of the fossil zoo) for free.
And you’ll get Package B (the trip, too) for a $30 off — or, if you come on one of our public tours, for free!
Can I keep the fossils I find?
They’re yours! (And if you don’t find one, you’ll get your money back.)
What time is best?
You’ll want a time when the Sun’s out, but when it’s not too cold (or hot).
Can we leave early?
Absolutely.
What should I bring for fossil-finding?
Good shoes for hiking, a snack, and water. (If you’d like to bring a hammer to the fossil site, feel free!)
Do you have any discounts for big groups?
Does your group have 8 people or more, ages 7 and up? You can do the private tour’s Package A (zoo only) for just $8 each, and Package B (trip, too) for just $20 each.
Kids 6 and below are free. (A reminder that kids need to be accompanied by parents.)
